“Over” Dosed!

I can’t help but question young doctors of late. I was recently food poisoned and waited 3 hours before I finally saw the doctor. She must have been very thorough cause for the whole 3 hours, she saw 12 patients including me. When I walked out of the clinic, went home to consume the medication, instead of getting better as I usually do, I ended up vomiting as well. Everything I consumed came right out. I had to go see another doctor who than decided to give me a jab. I did wake up to a better morning but I guess it was too late so recovery was slower than it used to be. Alternatively this could be attributed to the fact that I’m now older. Either way, I hope I never had to consume so many meds to feel worse again.

Social Hygiene

I never understood why I would find pee traces on the toilet seats in the ladies especially the office toilets I’ve been using. Ladies by right do not stand when they pee, but apparently by left they do.

I can understand if its a public toilet i.e. those one uses at the shopping malls. However, in an office building, only those who have keys get to use the toilets which basically meant that only a handful and the same few will be using the toilet.

Firstly, I do not understand why everyone can’t faithfully use the toilet by sitting. Wouldn’t the toilet seat be clean like this? After all, the back of one’s thighs shouldn’t be dirty. Secondly, I do not understand why such individuals do not opt for squatting toilets instead. Thirdly, I do not understand why such individuals do not have the decency to clean up after them. I’m sure amongst these individuals, all of them will be upset if dog owners did not clean up after their dogs had made a mess in these individuals’ premises. This is another case of double standards Singaporeans practise.

I’m not perfect, but at the very least, I use the toilet for its purpose; to leave my discharge in the toilet to be flashed away, not on the floor or on the toilet seats. How disgraceful is it that educated Singaporeans “supposedly” living in first world country do not practise and preach social hygiene.

Quote Of The Day

Hopes she eats the Brussels sprouts and die of e coli.

Monday Madness

I’m fuming on Monday morning!

How great can that get? Maybe it beats having Monday blues… Urgh!

One doesn’t give clear instructions, the other simply pressures for answers, I’m the poor bloke who is stuck in between!

Gossips On The Train II

Coincidentally, I have another anecdote to share about my experience on my train ride to work.

This time it involves men who are impeccably dressed to the nines. They look good, smell good with the exception of their bags (they carry backpacks but that’s not the focus of today’s gossip). They stood where they are like terracotta instead of moving to whatever space was left as a result of the person behind, beside them leaving.

They sure don’t behave like they are dressed. Bad!

Gossips On The Train

Sometimes I can’t help but wonder, shouldn’t those people who are religious be more gracious and more forgiving of their surrounding.

This morning on the train, it was crowded as usual. It was thus inevitable that I was standing very close to the next person. The person was standing perpendicular to me and wanted to read her book, so she began incessantly tapping me with her book. Undeniably, I got irritated and tried to make whatever space I have for her to maneuver her book to her comfortable position.

At the next stops, more people came in but no one left the train, hence I had no choice but to move closer to her. This time, she used the same book to tap on my shoulders incessantly again. It didn’t feel like it was the result of the train jerking because it had been a smooth ride. She was leaning on that panel separating the seats so she couldn’t have been trying to balance herself. Logically, it was deliberately done. I had no choice but to bear with it until Dhoby Ghaut where the majority of the people got down.

Out of curiosity, I peeked at the book she was reading, which is now rested on my shoulders (what a disadvantage for being short). She was reading a chapter called Thursday and the contents involves verses taken from the Bible. Psalm something. Beneath it, it looked like an interpretation of that verse.

It than struck me at how she can be faithfully reading it yet her behaviour, I believe, is contrary to what would have been preached in the book. This is not the first time I and even my friends who share her religion, have a negative experience of those who share her religion and I can’t help but wonder why…

Misconception

Lately, I have been explaining over and over again my duties as a pupil or newly termed trainee in the firm.

Apparently, there is a misconception that I am an intern because I am not given pay that includes CPF contribution as an employee and by the employer. My boss hasn’t asked that I make coffee, photocopy or attend to nitty gritty like checking of the mail box. If I ever have to do such stuffs, it would often be under the instructions of the secretaries who think its my duty as the lowest rung in the firm.

Admittedly when those times do happen, I get unhappy because this precious time is for me to take on the role of a lawyer and learn what I need to know for the months to come when I have to handle clients on my own. I’d be lagging behind my peers in the bigger firms if I’m wasting my time learning about other things besides what I’m supposed to.

Anyway the time will soon be over and I truly can’t wait!

Disgusted

I had breakfast with my mom this morning hence I boarded the earlier train to work today. I was stuck with the 830 late crowd and the 9 o’clock crowd. (830 late crowd refers to those who should make it at 830 but were running late.)

It was so congested that at every stop I had to get off and get on again until I reach my destination. Thankfully, no one was trying to hold a conversation with another. I’d have suffocated and die of heat and noise. I was “leaning” on the boyfriend of this girl who said “people should never complain about couples on the train, we take less space than others”.

How much less space than others are couples taking? During peak hours everyone’s stuck close anyway! The butt of the lady in front of me was rubbing on my stomach the whole train ride. Yea gross! I am short and she is gigantic!

In fact because couples had to stick to each other on crowded trains, they end up not manuveuring their way into spaces that are available as individuals hence taking up more spaces. I guess the girl is such a bimbo that she doesn’t know this is the reason why people complain about couples on the train! I wonder what the guy sees in her. Or maybe guys prefer bimbos. Hence explains the number of eligible bachelors here.

In A Unreceptive Fashion

I HATE IT WHEN ANYONE SCRUTINISE MY DRESSING.

It makes me feel naked. The people in my office makes it seem like a crime to come in to work everyday with a different top, bottom or dress. Everytime, 10-20s before I begin reporting on my work done, my colleagues would examine me from head to toe and back to head again; whether my hair is out of place, new scarf, new top or new bottom, new colour (besides my usual black and white)…

I’d prefer “nice top”, “nice dress”, “nice skirt”, “nice pants” or better yet “nice shoes” and for them to stop at that.

I am fortunate to come from a well to do family with clothes I don’t have to recycle until 5 months later. I take pride in what I wear and how I dress because it is a reflection of my family and my profession in my opinion and most importantly it boasts my mood for the day so all those comments that comes after scrutinising my dressing technically strips me and leave me standing undressed. I do not welcome them at all so STOP IT!

Men & Their Poles

Everytime I board the train, I can’t help but roll my eyes at the men who had to cling tightly onto the poles like their life depend on it. When the crowd comes in, instead of moving to the spaces at the centre of the carriage or the back, their hands never left the pole they have been holding on to. Do men have weaker sense of balance?

This morning on the way to work, I thought there should be a sign that says, poles for women only especially if they are in heels. Seriously I never had trouble balancing when I am in flats, why should men who are forever in “flats” need the poles to balance?
